Hey there peters613,
Apple’s iMessage service uses secure end-to-end encryption. This ensures only you and the person you’re talking to can see your messages. But there’s a big privacy hole in iMessage, and it’s named iCloud. Here’s what you need to know. Feb 08, 2021 If you're using an iPhone, you need SMS messaging to activate your phone number with iMessage and FaceTime. Depending on your carrier, you might be charged for this SMS. Go to Settings General Date & Time and make sure that your time zone is set correctly. Mar 18, 2020 Use the same Apple ID for iMessage that is being used by iCloud on your iPhone to make sure all features of iMessage work properly. A confirmation message will appear on your screen, tap on ‘Sign In’ and you will be signed using the same Apple ID as being used by iCloud.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you have some concerns about your iCloud and iMessage accounts. I’ll be happy to help with this.
An Apple ID is used for both iMessage and iCloud. On your iOS device, go to Settings > Your Name and see what the Apple ID is at the top of the screen. From there, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and see what Apple ID is signed in. If it’s the same, you’re signed into just one account and you don’t need to make any changes. It’s not possible to sync one iCloud account with another. If you go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and you are signed in with a different account, you can sign out of the incorrect account and back in with the correct one. It may depend on which account you want to use but if you want to use.
